A Cosmic Cosmology...

 

Spirituality and religion are not self-improvement programs
to measure up to;
nor "spiritual" standards to compare our progress with;
achieving lofty goals of "enlightenment" or "non-duality."
Everything is open-ended, boundaryless, freely fluid,
forever fluctuating, uncontained and unconstrained
without dogma or doctrine -
"in-lightened" from within.

This Cosmic Vibration, this Nameless "Divine Energy"
 is an unborn, inexplicable,
undulating universal energy that just IS -
that has always existed -
that is the gateway to
knowing our true Being...

a truer Vibration that lies at
the Core of our Being;
the "Originating Energy" of
our Cosmology;
the place of no beginning, or ending,
only the infinity of the ongoing moment.

The Infinite Ocean of Spirit - Geoffrey D. Falk

We are individualized waves of consciousness on the 
Infinite Ocean of Spirit; so say the sages.

But, although the Ocean has become the wave, and the wave,
when it dissolves the illusion of ego-separation and limitation,
realizes that it has always been one with the Infinite Ocean,
the form-bound wave itself is not the Ocean.  Nor is the Ocean
merely the sum of its waves -- the Ocean can exist without the
waves, but the waves cannot exist without the Ocean.

Everything you can see, hear, smell, touch, taste, and much more,
is part of this Ocean.  For all matter, energy and consciousness is
merely waves of certain rates of vibration on the surface of the 
Ocean of Consciousness; Spirit has become, and is present in and as,
every created thing.  That is, consciousness is the "water" of the
Infinite Ocean of Spirit, and all phenomena arise as modifications of
this one stuff, or ripples on/of this Ocean of
cosmic consciousness.

we become insane, we get confused with our roles.  Man is not
his role.  Man is deeper than that.  So, go into the forest or
someplace alone in nature, all by yourself, and find out who

your particular temporary body, [or role] but identify with the
entire process of nature and the whole cosmos...

A Cosmic Perspective - a meandering...

We are told in certain "traditions" that everything is Consciousness,
Awareness, Eternal Beingness, The Essential Self...  Plug in
whatever works for you - "God", The Ineffable, The Unknown, etc.
"IT", they say, is everywhere at the same time, aware of
everything that is occurring all at once.  I actually had this
experience while sitting in a doctor's waiting room.  I was
suddenly aware of what was AWARE of me sitting there -
and that "IT" was everywhere, awaring everything in the room.
It was "me", but also a greater "Awareness" than my own.

The mind can't really fathom such abstractions, so it creates words,
creation stories, and images, like "God", Buddha, Shiva, and other
deities, which personifies (person-ifies) what cannot be person-ified,
to try to explain what cannot be explained - including words like
Beingness, Consciousness, and Awareness... :) Non-dual language.

There is just this pure Space of Awareness, they say - what my
husband calls the "Portal of Eternity."  Works for him :)  I
experience "IT" as an alive Space of Silence within.  Everything
is felt to be suspended in, and infused with this Silence that just IS -
including you and me.  A mystery...

The "trick", as I'm discovering ever slowly, is to see from a
Cosmic Perspective, rather than the "Earth mind" that only sees
the "Earth mind" as real; does not see the bigger picture of being
suspended/infused in/with "The Infinite", but only thinks its
immediate reality is real - when it is only a part of a much larger
Cosmic Reality - of which the Earth experience is a part.  As my
husband says, the dynamics of the Cosmos has its own way -
and you can't manipulate it.  There's something bigger going on here.

How would life change for humanity if we started to see our lives
in this way,  from the perspective of Cosmic Consciousness that
sees the whole picture?  What would happen if we started viewing
each other from the Cosmic Perspective?  Something I fail at 
miserably - continuing to be distracted by the externals of life, on
the surface of life - entangled in the emotions that creates.

But maybe this Cosmic Perspective is the dis-entanglement from 
the matrix of our personal life dramas - to see all of existence from
a different perspective - to see the Infiniteness and True Nature of
all things - of all Existence.

We are breathed by the Cosmic "Spirit", if you will. Some call it
The Silence, or even The Holy Spirit...  I feel IT when sitting in the
Space of Silence within - the Still Point.  This, for me, is intimacy
with my "Eternal Being" - this sense of intimate connection through
the breath of Silence.  This energy/vibration runs through the whole
body, is in every cell.

"IT" is what we abide in naturally and don't even realize it.  We
are not always aware of it, don't have a felt sense of it,distracted
 again and again by the externals of life and living.  Pure Cosmic
Energy is what we breathe, and what breathes us, is what bathes the
cells, and permeates "our" world.  This "Divine Energy" of Life
continues on after death, but we focus on the  physicality and not
the Universal Energy that sustains and animates the body - that
which never dies.  We only see personalities playing out their roles
here, not the Beingness, or True Nature, or Essence of the "person."

At least from my perspective :)

It seems all so esoteric and yet we can feel the realness of "The
Mystery" of it - experientially - through our awareness, or direct
experience of IT.  In the Silence of Being I can feel this Infinite
Energy, the Universal Source coursing through my body - and
know that THAT is who I am, at the core of my being - not my
person-ified identity...

And yet, I remain distracted by this external identity that clouds
the Cosmic Perspective...

A Creative Universe - Thomas Berry

Empirical inquiry into the universe reveals that from its
beginnings in the galactic system to its earthly expression
in human consciousness the universe carries within itself
a spiritual as well as physical dimension.  Otherwise human
consciousness emerges out of nowhere.  In reality the human
activates the most profound dimension of the universe itself,

The Ancient Path of Dying - Sam Keen

 The basic motivation for human behavior is the need
to control our basic anxiety, to deny death in a world
where we are fated to die.  This is the terror: to have
emerged from nothing, to have a name, consciousness
of self, deep inner feelings, an excruciating inner yearning
for life and self-expression - and with all this yet die.

Since the terror of death is so overwhelming we conspire
to keep it unconscious.  The "vital lie character"
[personality] is the first line of defense that protects
us from the painful awareness of our helplessness...

Every child creates a personality...
So long as we stay obediently within the defense
mechanisms of our personality, the "character armor"
we feel safe and are able to pretend to avoid death.
And life escapes us while we huddle within the defended
fortress of "character" [personality].

But there's an ancient path of wisdom: practice dying.

Cultivating an awareness of death leads to disillusionment,
loss of the "character armor", and a conscious choice to
abide in the face of terror [death].  Instead of hiding
within the illusion of "character" we see our impotence
and vulnerability.  Living with the voluntary consciousness
of death, we can choose despair or trust the "vitality of the
cosmos", in the unknown god of life whose mysterious
"purpose" is expressed in the overwhelming drama of
cosmic evolution.

Awakening to your True Nature is like dying; it's a certainty,
inevitable.  You're going to get there no matter what you do,
so why rush?  Enjoy your life, it's free.  Cosmic Consciousness
and Altered States and Universal Mind are the names of the
rides in this vast and fascinating dualistic amusement park.
So are Poverty and Disease and Despair.  Enlightenment,
though, is not another ride.  Enlightenment means leaving the
park altogether, but why leave the park?  In the park you can
be a saint or a yogi or a billionaire or a world leader or a
warlord.  Happiness, misery, bliss, agony, victory, defeat, it's
all here.  When the time comes to leave the park, you'll know
and you'll go...
