Welcome...

Come meander with me on the pathless path of the Heart

sometimes inspiring, sometimes personal meanderings of the Heart's opening in the every-day-ness of life...

Fall's Last Flash...

The lamps are different,
but the Light is the same...

Concentrate on essence,
concentrate on Light…

In lucid bliss,
calmly smoking off its own holy fire,
the Light streams towards you from all things...

The lamps are different,
but the Light is the same…

One matter, one energy, one Light,
one Light-mind,
endlessly emanating all things.
One turning and burning diamond.

One, one, one…

Ground yourself,
strip yourself down,
to blind loving silence.
Stay there, until you see
you are gazing at the Light
with its own ageless eyes…

Rumi
“One, One, One”

Inside this new love die.
Your way begins on the other side.
Become the sky.
Take an axe to the prison wall
Escape.
Walk out like someone suddenly
born into color.

Do it now.
You’re covered with thick cloud.
Slide out the side.
Die,
and be quiet.

Quietness is the surest sign
that you’ve died.

Your old life was a frantic
running from Silence...

Rumi
”Quietness”

  1. ah yes, fall's last flash. we had that yesterday here with the wind blowing tons of leaves from the trees (and a 9 hr power outage!). lovely words by Rumi. These lines particularly speak to me: "You’re covered with thick cloud. Slide out the side."

  2. ZDS ~ A 9 hr power outage!? Wow--- These photos were taken on 11-8. Most leaves now gone on most trees. We had high winds here too this afternoon. Maybe came down from your way :)

    Sliding out the side :)

  4. your old life was a frantic running from silence.

interesting. now at 66 i am far less frantic than i was when younger and see that youthful time as a frantic filling up of space with activity and noise. although i always made space for silent time i often read or occupied my mind in some way.

    gorgeous tree.

  5. Thank you Suki! Yes, me too - in my running I was always searching for it too. And used to go into the woods as a child to find it.

Yes, we can see this tree from our back window. It's huge, but actually think it's two trees.

  6. This lovely post captures the season so beautifully. Rather a melancholy thing is it not, the last flash of golden color in November? I look out at the bare trees in the garden and find myself sliding into a gentle meditation in which the prevailing sounds are the wind and my old temple chimes swaying in the eaves. The wind chants snow, snow, snow...

  7. Thank you Cate... Yes, it does seem a little melancholy, particularly the color of the sky this time of year here - more grayish. The November Sky has always felt melancholy to me; has always felt like "death" for some reason.

The pics were taken on 11/8 and the leaves are now gone. Although our cottonwoods still have a lot of leaves on them that didn't "flash out" - just shriveled up... We've already had 3 snowfalls; 2 in October, and one early Nov. This past week has been in the 60's! Typical Colorado weather. :)

  8. LOVING that golden blaze in you image, Christine... and Rumi never fails to inspire. "...Stay there, until you see
you are gazing at the Light..." I think I will take this as my mantra this week. ;o) ((Love & Light))
