From what I can gather :) the practice of writing “Small Stones” is a way of being mindful, aware, noticing, seeing the world, our environment, both inner and outer, with new eyes. It is about noticing and writing down these little stones of awareness on a daily basis for the month of January. I was first introduced to “Small Stones” by Hilaire over at Storing Magic. To find out how it all began on the original site Click here. And here are a few “stones” I have gathered in my “noticing” this month with some photos that seemed to fit… Enjoy!

Thanks for these "stones," for your reminder (I can use these EVERY DAY----stones and reminders!) and for the link to that lovely website (I've downloaded the free HOW TO WRITE YOUR OWN WAY HOME, which is delightful). Hmmm. . . such inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris! Am glad you enjoyed them and found the website inspiring... I haven't been writing stones daily, but it sure is helping to be more aware...
DeleteHaven't looked at the link yet but these are soooo sweet. Thank you Dear Christine. -L.
ReplyDeleteHey Leslie! :) Thanks... Still breathing :)
Deletewonderful! my favorite is the last with its exquisite simplicity...
ReplyDeleteThank you Darla - I like the simplicity in that one too... :)
Deleteyour small stones are lovely and i like the way you presented them, each written on top of a photo. I looked at the site. Interesting. To me these are like little haiku in their brevity.
ReplyDeleteThank you Suki ~ Evidently there are many different ways to write them - long prose, poetry or haiku. Hilaire, at Storing Magic, link in post, writes what seems like short Haikus... I need to investigate the Small Stones website more.
Deletelovely little winter treats! gotta go check the site out. love the "mashed potato sky"
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole! :) I actually was in the car when I noticed the sky, and it looked just like whipped mashed potatoes! I don't believe I had ever seen the clouds like that before. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me. So the picture for that one is a substitute :)
DeleteSmall but precious stones!
ReplyDeleteThank you louciao :)
DeleteSooo deeply beautiful, Christine...love the last one especially! I've been tinking with the idea of a seasonal, written journal--you inspire me! :o) Happy Weekend ((Blessings & Hugs))
ReplyDeleteThank you Tracy ~ Be sure to check out the "small stones" link in the post and that might give you some ideas for your "seasonal journal." Happy Hugs :)
DeleteYes, snow and small brown heart leaf dancing... just some of Life's many sweet treasures to enjoy ~
ReplyDeleteCathy - found your lovely Haiku's on your web site today... I'm new to writing "small stones" but it seems very similar to Haiku...
DeleteThe small stones work really well with the pictures - what a lovely idea! I particularly like the first one - who is waiting indeed!
ReplyDeleteI love the way the River is swelling and moving into new landscapes...
Thank you Hilaire :) Yes, and gathering many stones along the way!
