Welcome...

Come meander with me on the pathless path of the Heart
in these anecdotal,
sometimes inspiring, sometimes personal meanderings of the Heart's opening in the every-day-ness of life...

The Beauty of the Night...

I love the darkness of night,
when all is still in my part of the world,
and The Silence of the Universe fills the body
and Heart....

No distractions, no disturbances...
I settle into what really matters -
The Silence of Being, the Nameless
- just breathing...

I would rather be awake during the darkness
of night, than enduring the brashness,
cacophony and chaos of the day.
The darkness is comforting, calming...
There's a Beauty in the night's darkness
that can be felt...

It is The Silence of Life ItSelf
that matters most to me;
an odd duck, I know.
Not "day driven" - going from
one task to another,
seeing how much I can get done;
maybe it's my age,
and waning life energy.

The simplicity
of night's quiet darkness
soothes me and allows me to access
the deep space within, again.
Deep calling to deep...

For now, though, I must let go of
the night's allure -
and fall into sleep.

The Still Point - Rod MacIver

The source of your [authentic] power is your still point.
Your power comes from harmony with your inner world.
That relationship is nurtured in silence, in solitude, in reflection.

Joseph Campbell said much depends on knowing who you are
and what you want out of life.  The self-knowledge requires
reflection, quiet time to nurture and build.  Before expending energy,
build energy.  Spend time in contemplation, in a pre-verbal state
of receiving, waiting for guidance.

The still point is that place of quiet reflection, meditation or
prayer, time for rest and relaxation and contemplation.

Still point = sanity :)

Within each of us , there is a silence, a silence as vast as
the universe,  And when we experience that silence, we
remember who we are...  It is a paradox that we encounter
so much internal noise when we first try to sit in silence.

Your Sacred Place - Joseph Campbell

Your Sacred place
is where you can find yourself
again and again...

A sacred place is hermetically sealed off from the temporal
world,  When you're in such a space, there is no penetration
through the enclosure.  You are in an eternal zone that is
protected from the impact of the stimuli of the day and the
hour.

The Grail Castle - for that's what this sacred space is - is the
place where your associations are not with the field of
phenomenal experience, but with the field of your own sacred
space.  Then, once you have found the connection in your
sacred space, you can perhaps translate it into other parts of
your life.  But first you have to have a little well that goes
down deep...

A Deeper River - Dada Gavand & Angeles Arrien

You cannot meet God through the mind,
nor experience the timeless through time.

Thought cannot touch the transient.
Only the freedom from thought
and from mental cravings and ambitions
does the energy become
whole, tranquil and pure.

Such inner purity and humility
will invite the hidden divinity.

The pure consolidate energy
with its silence and fullness within
awaits in readiness to meet the divine,
to experience that which is beyond the mind.

There across the region of time
beyond the frontiers of the mind,
within the sanctuary of silence,
resides the supreme intelligence,
the timeless divine.

Dada Gavand

I trust the Mystery.  I trust what comes in silence
and what comes in nature where there's no diversion.
I think the lack of stimulation allows us to hear and
experience a deeper river that's constant, still, vibrant,
and real..

Angeles Arrien

The Silence of Source is the deepest River.
I must find the deeper River within again,
and listen to Its Voice.

The Power of Quiet - Malidoma Patrice Some

The power of quiet is great.
It generates the same feelings in everything one encounters.
It vibrates with the cosmic rhythm...
It is everywhere, available to anyone at any time.
It is us.
The force within that makes us stable, trusting and loving.
It is contemplation contemplating.
Peace is letting go - returning to the Silence that cannot enter
the realm of words because it is too pure to be contained
in words.

"She"...

"She" - is not Shiva
             not "The Mystery"
             nor "the Goddess"

"She" - is the Primal Energies of the Universe -
            The Originating "Mother Energies"
like the mother load of Gold

"She" - is beyond all concepts of "God",
             religion, or enlightenment
             Nameless, beyond form or identity

"She" - is the pre-verbal Primordial Energies
             infusing all Existence

"She" - is the all-consuming Holy Fire that burns
through all our illusions and delusions

"She" - is the depth of Sacred Silence - the Deep Quiet
always calling us Home - to the Heart of Being

Causeless Joy - Naomi Shihab Nye

It's difficult to know what to do with so much happiness.
With sadness, there's something to rub against.
A wound to tend with lotion and cloth.
When the world falls in around you,
you have pieces to pick up, something to hold
in your hands like ticket stubs or change.

But happiness floats.
It doesn't need you to hold it down.
Doesn't need anything.
Happiness lands on the roof of the next house singing
and disappears when it wants to.

[.....]

Everything has a life of its own.

It, too, could wake up filled with possibilities of coffee cake
and ripe peaches and love even the floor which needs to be
swept, the soiled linens, and scratched records...

Since there's no place large enough to contain so much happiness,
you shrug, your raise your hands, and it flows out of you into
 everything you touch.

You're not responsible.
You take no credit.

As the night sky takes no credit for the moon,
but continues to hold it and to share it
and in that way, be known.

I know it may seem strange to be posting about
Joy and Happiness etc. during such chaotic, disruptive,
apocalyptic times. I'm surprised as well that this has happened,
so just offering a bit of inspiration...
This doesn't mean that I am
untouched by the struggles and difficulties of others.
I also continue to have my "moments" as well...
There's a lot going on for all of us...

The world, even with its turmoil, becomes, or is seen as,
a "divine play" or Cosmic Dance.  We find we can be
in the world, as it is, and not struggle with what is happening,
or try to "fix" it; but allow life to unfold as it does in its own rhythm;
not seeking "liberation" or freedom from the world, but living
from the Deep Quiet space within, and let that show us
where we can contribute with mindful engagement,
not emotional, reactive chaos...
