"Home"...

Never lose sight of "Home" -
your inner "Home"...
The deep Silence of your Being -
The Essence...
that sustains you -
that in-spires you -
through every life experience...
Through physical pain -
and emotional heartache...
The Silence waits for you -
like a dear Friend...
Welcomes you "Home"
again and again and again -
when you have wandered away -
into the chaos of the world...

You are loved beyond measure...

Silence is a Gate - Dada Gavand

In the present competitive commercial society there seems
to be no room for Silence.

Quietude and Silence are not the negation of life, but the
regeneration of it.  Silence is the means to elevate life energy
to a timeless dimension.

We have got to find this unknown dimension of life.  The
whole world is in desperate need of a new-dimensional
consciousness, so that human being can live intelligently,
creatively, spontaneously and lovingly, and not just follow
the ego pursuits mechanically.

Silence is the means and Silence is the end.
Creative Silence is the ultimate challenge.

Silence is the sap that rejuvenates life.
Silence is the source of eternal life.

Simply Silence...

In the midst of chaos there is always Silence...
In the midst of complexity there is simplicity...
Being in the Rhythm of Silence unwinds the mind -
unwinds the fears.
It unwinds the contracted body, thoughts, emotions, and feelings
that have become an habituated response to life.

Silence is the medicine that brings us back to the current of Life
again; into the Infinite Presence that lives us...

It is not "mother earth" pulsing through us,
but That which also pulses through "mother earth" -
the Cosmic pulse of Life that infuses all things...

Reach deeply into the Stillness of Silence
within you - the Primordial Space of Silence
and thrive there...

In this stillness is the congruancy of Life...

Feel the Stillness,
the Sacred Silence...
Awaken to its Rhythm...

It is not thought...
Go behind the mind,
to the Essence of Existence -
Silence...

Sweet, Sweet, Silence...

In Harmony with The Cosmos - Sardello

Silence is not a path...
The most basic experience of Silence is intimacy...
Silence keeps us intimately bound with the truth of
our Being...
We feel how we, in our individuality, are part of a
vast and mysterious world process...
Illusion and ego-fantasy begin with forgetting this
intimacy with Silence...

In "practicing" [being aware of] the Silence we are not
trying to merge with the Cosmos, or to leave this world
for timeless regions... but to come into harmony with the
Rhythm of Silence and the great [natural] rhythms governing
the world [planet].  We start by sensing the presence of
extremely subtle currents of The Silence that have a unique
quality.  These currents are neither "energy" nor the electro-
magnetic currents of the body.  We experience the currents
of Silence, as being touched by a "spiritual" presence.  The
nature of the currents of Silence is that of the presence
of an interiority, like knowing someone in a way that reveals
the essence of their Being.  We experience an immediacy
of the quality of interiority.  There is nothing behind Silence...
There is just Silence...  When we are in The Silence we
experience something very bodily and we also experience
it as a subtle touch at the level or our Soul, at
the level of our own interiority.

[Accessing] The Silence through directly sensing is the key
to living both our Soul life, and our spiritual life *in* the world...

The work is to be with The Silence itself...

Robert Sardello
Excerpts From - Silence: The Key to Wholeness

Personal Note:  I have experienced some of what Mr.
Sardello describes as his own experience.
Everyone experiences this Silence differently...

The Inner Cosmos...

Give no regard to the voice of Fear that
divides and conflicts you;
whether from within or without...

Walk as if the Divine were in your shoes,
walking you -
The Inner Cosmic Divine;
undivided by earthly "tribes"
of culture and religion, and politics;
earthly boundaries;
or the divided mentations of
mediocre minds...

Fall into the Inner Rhythm of
the Universal Eternal Energy,
the ubiquitous Pulse
inherently everywhere at all times,
fluidly in and through life.

Do not listen to the 10,000 teachings
in your head that you have
accumulated over the years,
all trying to tell you what is true,
which way to go,
and how to be.

Just sit, be still, breathe, and listen...

for the Inner Cosmic Rhythm,
until you feel the
Inner Cosmos
move
you

Fall into the Deep Internal Silence of the
Inner Cosmos,
beyond artificial boundaries and lines,
beyond the bluster of buffoons and bullies
with mouthfuls of meaningless words....

Just Breathe....

Wait....

for the movement of the
Inner Cosmos to lead you...

Then you will know what is true,
which way to go,
and
how to Be...

Balance - MacIver & Levey

Your inner world guides you without you knowing it.
Our thought patterns determine the quality of our lives.
That inner process works at the depth of each of us
carrying the meaning that has been trying to establish
itself in our existence.  It embodies the potential of who
we are when our life expresses itself as a whole.
Silence helps...

A sign of balance is a comfort with silence, both Silence
within and silence without.

Rod MacIver
Artist/Writer

~

Balance can be sensed in terms of the waves of the Ocean.
...at a deeper level, the changing tides of such "waves" are balanced
by the profound reality of an unchanging "Ocean" within you;
Just as the Ocean is the water that forms all waves,
The Ocean within you is the universal reality or essence
that dwells within all beings...
[Some call this the Silence]
Discovering the Ocean is vitally important for the
 discovery of balance, because it
provides a place of peace for you to return home to, despite
the chaos of the day.

...keep balanced on the waves of our challenging lives...

~

Personal Note:  For many years the Inner Silence was my refuge.
Then life fell out of balance about 2 years ago through unexpected
life circumstances and I was unable to *access* the Silence,
or maintain balance, literally.
My energy and body are really out of whack.
Returning to doing my funky art vortexes seems to be helping
to find a sense of inner balance again, but I need to rediscover
the deep Inner Silence of Being and align with that.
One step at a time...

Facing Down the Dragons - a meandering...

I knew this is why I keep entering "The Cave."  I keep getting
chased down by fear and anger - again and again.  I have carried
them all my life, in different forms, and I am exhausted
from carrying them - the weight of darkness.  I have tried many
times over the years to lay fear down, to trick it, to manage it,
to numb it, to be aware of it...  But awareness of it is not enough.
It must be faced full on - in all its disguises: anxiety, anger,
frustration, and stress.  But first, I had to experience the
Silence of Being in "The Cave", to prepare the way to open to
meet Fear, and allow myself to experience it all the way through.
I am not yet "through" the fear, in its myriad forms.
  It is an ongoing process.

"The Cave", or "sanctuary" serves several purposes.  It provides
the physical space, a room, like a holding space, and, is also the
inner space of deep Silence that is the foundation of seeing with
clarity, for entering into the exploration and investigation of the
hidden shadows of the self in the safety of the deeper space of
Awareness.

The first night that I sat with fear in "The Cave", many years ago,
I was amazed that Awareness curiously moved towards it, and
experienced it.  Awareness was not afraid of the fear, but was
compassionate towards it.  A small opening of light came through.
I began to relax and allow the fear to be, instead of trying to
push it away.

The second night I sat with fear, I became aware that I am
somehow invested in it, an unconscious and habituated response
to life, although I don't understand why or the dynamics of how
that happened.  But I realized that there is an unconscious
pattern and a familiarity with fear that makes it hard to
"just let go", as some suggest, despite the pain that creates it.
It is such an ingrained, habituated pattern that in a sense it
has become the default position in my psyche.

In sitting with fear, I became aware that fear is the mind's view
of things.  It's the view through the lens of fear that I am
somehow attached to...  Something needs to be seen more deeply
here, but at this point, these many years later, I am still blind
to it.

The third night I realized that anxiety traumatizes the body.
Fear is very visceral, releasing all kinds of fear hormones and
bodily symptoms that wear out the body...  There was the
understanding, over and again, that fear is triggered by thoughts
believed to be true, to be real, creating this physical trigger -
the body-mind's response to a mental state of mind - a biological
response to the mind's view.  The body-mind mechanism
automatically defaults to anxiety with its resulting physical
felt experience of trauma.  Even the *thought* of facing the fear
creates fear.  It is so uncomfortable physically that it is hard to
face this construct of fear without spiraling into panic.

And I realized - once again - that despite many "awakenings",
much of the time my life is still fear driven by this underground
electrical current - short circuiting everything in its path.
Anxiety has become an entrapment, a prison - a private self-torture
of and by the mind...

I have seen all these insights before and yet there is still "fearing",
even now as each new life experience arises.

What is the remedy I asked:

These words emerged from within, from the Deep Silence:

Follow the Fear.  Let it take you deeper.  Deeply attend to it.
Explore the tendrils of it.  Allow yourself to *fully* experience it.
Watch how it plays itself out: where it goes, what it tells you,
where it leads the mind and body.  Trust where it takes you.

Prayer is Listening - Soren Kierkegaard

As my prayer became more attentive and inward
I had less and less to say.
I finally became completely silent.
I started to listen
- which is even further removed from speaking.
I first thought that praying entailed speaking.
I then learnt that praying is hearing,
not merely being silent.
This is how it is.
To pray does not mean to listen to oneself speaking,
Prayer involves becoming silent,
And being silent,
And waiting until "God" [The Deep Silence] is heard.

Inner Guru - Nisargaddatta

All that a Guru can tell you is: "My dear Sir, you are quite
mistaken about yourself.  You are not the person you think
yourself to be."

Trust nobody, not even yourself.  Find out, remove and
reject every assumption till your reach the living waters
and the rock of truth.

[.....] if you stay with the idea that you are
not the body nor the mind, nor even their witness, but
altogether beyond, your mind will grow in clarity, your desires -
in purity, your actions - in clarity and that inner distillation will
take you to another world, a world of truth and fearless love.

[.....]  Confide in your inner self.

The greatest Guru is your inner self.  Truly, he [she] is the supreme
teacher.  He [she] alone can take you to your goal and alone meets
you at the end of the road.  Confide in him [her] and you need no
outer Guru....

Silence is Not a Practice - Fred LaMotte

Trying to practice silence, imposing stillness on the mind,
is not meditation, but a subtle form of violence.

To control thoughts, force them out of the mind, or concentrate
on one thought to the exclusion of others, is not meditation but
oppression.  And to repeat an affirmation over and over again is
not truth: it is control and denial.  The affirmation tries to will
away a feared condition by drilling down into a description of its
opposite.  But behind the affirmation is the fear that the opposite
is true, and this fear tacitly empowers what it fears.

We pride ourselves in our techniques of "self-discipline."  But
self-discipline is the inward idol of the authoritarian mind.  Who
is the self that disciplines the mind?  Who disciplines that self
An infinite regression of selves to be disciplined, until one finally
surrenders...

True meditation is the weary traveler who lets go of the quest,
takes off her clothes, leaves the path, and slips naked into a forest
pool.  She washes the journey from her glistening brown body.

Just so, the mind slips off one veil of thought after another,
sinking deeper into more luminous layers of silence, until the
dark effervescent stillness beyond thought immerses her.  It is a
stillness that can only be discovered, never imposed.  No thought
can produce the vast tranquility that lies between thoughts, just
as no star, however bright, can contain the vast night around it.
In this divine darkness, she joyfully drowns...

True meditation doesn't require hours of sitting.  For just a few
minutes, one dives into the secret pool of eternity, then emerges
totally refreshed, re-created, reborn from the womb of amazement.

Fred LaMotte
Uradiance

The Silence of emptiness pervades all forms.  It is the primordial
Silence of God, gushing tears from the spring of bliss in the
womb of creation.  True Silence is the mother of poetry, the
mother of art, the mother of music.

"The Cave"...

Entering "The Cave"
the place of deep inner Silence and stillness...

Relaxing...
Listening deeply for the Inner Voice.
Following its sound.
Finding its Rhythm in the fluid, instinctive
inner River...

It is the space of The Sacred...

This aware, awake space is curious and unafraid,
wants to engage, to see, to know,
to experience ~

...and be experienced...

This Space is deeply compassionate,
deeply open,

...and is waiting to be known...

Pure Awareness
flows through here ~
the life blood of The Sacred.
It flows around the obstacles of my mind,
and moves toward every disturbance,
filling every mind-made crack and crevice,
wanting to meet, soothe, comfort, and embrace.

In "The Cave"
there is only patience, listening
and deep rest...

It is a gentle refuge
that feels like Home...

Your Sacred Place - Joseph Campbell

Your Sacred place
is where you can find yourself
again and again...

A sacred place is hermetically sealed off from the temporal
world,  When you're in such a space, there is no penetration
through the enclosure.  You are in an eternal zone that is
protected from the impact of the stimuli of the day and the
hour.

The Grail Castle - for that's what this sacred space is - is the
place where your associations are not with the field of
phenomenal experience, but with the field of your own sacred
space.  Then, once you have found the connection in your
sacred space, you can perhaps translate it into other parts of
your life.  But first you have to have a little well that goes
down deep...

A Deeper River - Dada Gavand & Angeles Arrien

You cannot meet God through the mind,
nor experience the timeless through time.

Thought cannot touch the transient.
Only the freedom from thought
and from mental cravings and ambitions
does the energy become
whole, tranquil and pure.

Such inner purity and humility
will invite the hidden divinity.

The pure consolidate energy
with its silence and fullness within
awaits in readiness to meet the divine,
to experience that which is beyond the mind.

There across the region of time
beyond the frontiers of the mind,
within the sanctuary of silence,
resides the supreme intelligence,
the timeless divine.

Dada Gavand

~

I trust the Mystery.  I trust what comes in silence
and what comes in nature where there's no diversion.
I think the lack of stimulation allows us to hear and
experience a deeper river that's constant, still, vibrant,
and real..

Angeles Arrien

~

The Silence of Source is the deepest River.
I must find the deeper River within again,
and listen to Its Voice.

The Golden Silence...

The Deep Silence calls to her
in the waking moments;
the "remedy" for all that
disturbs, contracts and constricts,
that blinds her from the Way...

It whispers to her:

Loosen the robes of religion you have worn -
that bound you.
Untie the shoes of "spirituality" -
that don't fit now.
Lay down all the "apparel" - the outer garments -
that have burdened you.

Dare to be naked...

Laying in the early morning silence,
she brings her tattered self to the deeper
dimension of the Golden Silence within;
careful not to get lost in the shadowy caverns
of the unconscious mind along the way...

In the space of Deep Silence she hears:

Just be still and wait...
Trust the Flow of Life
Wait for the pieces to fall together.
Observe the metamorphosis
that is taking place inside you
through
your internal "wranglings"
and your unbearable struggles;
like a butterfly trying to break through
its hard chrysalis - wanting to be free...

Be patient - do not resist what is...

It will all be okay - is okay...

Cross the threshold of your troubled mind
and step into the still waters of the Golden Silence within,
your Primordial Home...

Rest here...

Unscathed...

Primordial Intimacy - a meandering...

"The 'key', in my experience, one of many keys actually,
is constantly 'returning' awareness or attention to the
awareness of Primordial Silence, Primordial Presence,
Primordial  Life before form.  I am constantly challenged
to "wake up" and remember this..."

This came out of a conversation with my husband in the
face of life's challenges that are currently occurring here
personally on an ongoing basis - for years actually -
that I feel pulling me away from this deeper sense of
Intimacy with "The Silence" within - which is what
I have been posting about recently - as a way to remind
myself.  The Primordial Silence of Life calls to me,
like an old Friend - inviting me, waiting for me to
respond, to come and be still - which has been almost
been impossible the last few months...

Intimacy with this Primordial Silence is what nourishes
me - when I can be in that space.  It is the elixir of Life -
dissolving all resistance, and anxiety about what is, the
way life is right now, what it should be, and allows
the veils that keep me from this Divine Communion of
Silence to drop away...  But I'm not there.  I am riding
the "Mind Bus" with its stories and fears.

It is a conscious endeavor to remember that no matter
what is going on, there is always Intimacy with this
Primordial Silence within, even if not felt.  I just need to
keep returning to It: The awareness of Primordial Intimacy
within myself...

The Culture of Noise - Yahia Lababidi

Perhaps more than ever before, it has become necessary to
speak up in praise of silence, as an attempt to redress the
balance in a cacophonic contemporary culture that appears
suspicious of outright contemptuous silence.  Living as we
do, in the busyness of this modern world - hooked up, beeping
and under the false imperative of needing to keep in touch with
everything
- we find ourselves in the unhealthy situation of
losing our silences and the sustenance that comes with them.

So we desperately rush, hurling ourselves from one activity
to the next, without ever pausing to dilute the concentration
of our experience with reflection.

...erosion of silence in our lives is unmistakably connected
with our noise-ravaged nerves, of increased stress levels, as
well as increasingly shortened attention spans, which affects
our ability to both think and feel deeply in order to sift through
the deluge of stimulus that informs our hurried and harried days.

Previously a portal to silence, the culture of reading is currently
imperiled in favor of "information snacking" to accommodate
our hectic schedules.  This coupled with the media's shrill and
insistent competition for our attention, makes it necessary to
guard our silences even more vigilantly.

If French philosopher Blaise Pascal is correct, that all of
humanity's problem stem from man's inability to sit quietly in
a room alone,' then the proliferation of talk and reality shows
may be seen as symptomatic of our cultural malaise. Namely,
reality shows, which actually serve to distract us from reality,
or being present to ourselves, are precisely a reflection of
our collective 'inability to sit quietly in a room alone.'

.....noise too can be the absence of sound.  Noise is the silent
invasion of our inner space by the clutter of undigested
information and unsorted emotions that pile up throughout
the days and weeks.
With our private spaces thus encroached
upon, we risk becoming alienated from ourselves until our
lives are something foreign to us.  Against the odds, of what at
times appears to be a conspiracy of noise, we must try to assert
our birthright to retreat, reflect, and regenerate.

Solitude tends to produce an understanding of our own
limitations, and forces us to seek our own counsel in dealing
with them.

Yet, silence, like any controlled substance, must be handled with
care.  Initiates, or masters of silence - such as solitaries, thinkers,
monks, hermits, and ascetics - have long known how to mine it
for fortitude and insight, or to arrive at ecstasis.  But it is up to
each individual to determine how much is desirable and useful...

Just as the monastery and institutionalized silence are not for
everyone, so too extended travels to the foreign land of silence
are not for tourists.  Striking out fearlessly into interior territories
is not for dilettantes, or those less practiced with deeper
experiences of prolonged silence...

The aim, then, is to try to find that healthy balance - between
silent fasts and noise feasts...

The Voice of Silence Within - Fred LaMotte

Upon emerging from meditation, I was moved to share this:
The world is not in chaos.  The mind is in chaos.
There is a place we need to return to: the wellspring of our
own intuition, the starry depth in our core.  This is the
real Guru, the true Friend, the true Master.  Throw the
penny of this little mind into that well, which has been
silently bubbling up for countless lifetimes, in a hidden
glade, the wildest glen of your ancient brain.  Fall into
this yearning hollow, all the way down your spine,
through your rib cage into the solar plexus.  Now you
are just a ripple of silence trembling into the galaxy.
Who will guide you to this well?  The true Friend.
She leads you not to herself, but points beyond words
to your own heart.  Why should you give away your
power to any other who claims to teach you what can
only be learned at the soundless fountain inside you?
Listen to the voice of the Silence inside silence.  A real
Guru reveals this murmuring spring in the valley of your
chest, through a whisper, a touch, or their mere presence.
They then walk away, freeing you to name the Mystery
for yourself, as you gaze into the unfathomable waters
of Shakti, the healing current of your own awakened grace.
Whenever you want to come to this forest pool and sit with
your Guru, or with the Christ, with Buddha, or with any
of the Rishis, you find them waiting here, nearer than
your pulse.  Not in any temple or ashram, but in the golden
dark inside the inward spring of Divine Love, overflowing
with the nectar of emptiness, gushing stars, pouring out
the fierce wild atoms of your body, for no reason but to
dance.

Knock-Knock...

What if I quit knocking at the door of
The Beloved - address unknown...
Would The Beloved still come?

Why do I keep trying so hard?
Doesn't The Beloved already know that I'm here?
So why do I need to keep coming to the door,
begging, like a beggar in the night,
whispering outside the door;
like throwing stones at a window,
trying to entice my "lover" to notice that
I am standing outside - waiting -
unseen, unheard...

knock-knock

What if I quit knocking at the door?
Would The Beloved not hear the longing of my Heart?
Would The Beloved still come?

~

...a door within my Heart opens as if by its own accord...
The Beloved is here - waiting for me
in the deeper Silence at the Core of my Being,
at the Inner Door,
where only a whisper is heard...

Maybe I was knocking at the wrong door...
